Before I share my eye candy with you, I need to share this with you.

I work a 40 hr a week job for my local county Department of Social Services. I work an entry level position. I do not have a college degree.

I have worked in my department for 9 years and this job for more than 3 years, although I backed up the previous individual for 4 years before I took over. I am good at my job ...... blah blah blah. Here is my situation. About 5 years ago our department got a new director........ for some reason she took an instant dislike to me .... not sure why, I have never had to deal with this before in my working life. I have been passed over 4 different times for promotions. So much more to that my work story. But really here is what I need to say.......

Just because I am a front line person, doesn't mean that I don't deserve respect. And "because I am the director" isn't always a good reason. More to that story as well, but it is the reason why I am so upset this time.

I would really have to call her a bully.

I respect her as the director, and I am a person who works hard, and I deserve respect as well.

Here is why I bring this up.......... I know that some of my readers are in position where they hold power over the people who work for them. Please treat them with respect. We are people too.

I dread the thought of working tomorrow. But thank you for listening and allowing me to get some of that out. By the way, I like my job and I am lucky to be appreciated by my piers.

No need to comment on any of that. I am not looking for anyone to feel sorry for me. I asked our daughter, who is a manager, to please be good to her front line staff. And I ask those of you who are in a position of power to do the same.

Enough of that............ as promised and the real reason you are here...........

Here are some of Ellen's April paperclips that I made for my friends at work. The dark brown baskets were made using the new Lizbeth thread from Handy Hands, the off brown colored one was made using white which I tea dyed to give it a brownish effect (I had to make one right way and couldn't wait for my order to come from H.H. LOL) The multi colored flowers are Tatskool's rainbow bright HDT.

I have made a couple of them in the past but as usual gave them away so quickly that I forgot to take pictures. I'm really sorry that I couldn't figure out how to turn the flash off when I took the picture, because it really does distract from how cute they are. The more I made of them I realized that the less flowers I put on it the better it looked.

Thank you, everyone!

Bonnie

Eek! That would be my cue to find a different boss and/or a different job. You do not have to put up with harrassment. It's a free country, and all that. You're a trooper. People like that are usually insecure and generally unhappy, which makes them nasty :( Overcome evil with good; kill 'em with kindness, etc., comes to mind...

Love the flowers! I can't zoom in on your photo, but the "more the merrier" to me :)

XOXO

So sorry to hear that you are in such a difficult job right now with your current director. I've dealt with a lot of that in my profession, unfortunately. I am fortunate enough to be currently working for a company where healthy working relationships are genuinely encouraged and that sort of bullying attitude is generally not tolerated. Good luck with everything. I happen to agree with pharmd2009! I wish I would've left my other positions sooner because you can't change your director, boss or anyone over you...you can only change your current circumstances by going somewhere else. I wish you the best!

You paperclip tatting is very pretty! :)

I know you said there was no need to comment on the situation but I think most of us can relate to what you are saying. I recently told a coworker who is being "favored" to keep in mind that the way the boss treats "x" who is getting the "unfavored" treatment, is the way she will eventually be treated. It's hard to leave when you love your work and your coworkers are good. Sometimes the boss leaves. (smile)

Isn't it wonderful to have tatting as a stress reliever?

I have been in the same situation, and I know it is not fun! The first time it happened to me, I was very young, and I quit my job... the best thing that ever happened to me, because I found a wonderful job closer to home with a wonderful boss and co-workers. The second time was about 10 years ago... Gina's right... sometime the boss does leave! He left; I stayed; I'm happy; now I can tat in peace!

I love your little paper clips! I bought some early in the summer, meaning to try them out. The package is still sealed! I'm thinking I should try this soon!

Like some of the others, I have been there as well. I hope you can stick it out and not let her run you out of a job you like. Many times, being a bully is a way to cover up insecurities and lack of self esteem. Who knows what might be causing her to "act out" this way. I hope it gets better. Now, the paper clips are very pretty!

very pretty tatted baskets Bonnie,
I have not been in the same situation, but as the office manager now, I do try to treat the others with respect and fairness. I hope that I succeed. Thank you for the reminder. I know that sometimes I get busy and distracted and forget to say thank you. I have tatted paperclips with the hearts on them for the women I work with to show them I am thinking of them.

Your tatting is lovely. Be of good cheer! We(tatting buddies) are behind you. I recently had a change in boss( for the better). The former one I endured 9 years of her 'bulling' because I like my job. Jobs are political and sooner rather than later the bullies are weeded out. I agree 'kill with kindness!'
Your baskets are happy and upbeat. Isn't tatting great!
