Thread

I know that most of you are enjoying your Lizabeth thread from Handy Hands. In fact some of the HDT artists are using it to dye the threads I so greatly enjoy.

I am not however having a good time with it. Previously I blogged about finding it at JoAnn's Fabrics and the problems I was having. Well it's not getting any better with the thread I purchased directly from HH. This what I found about a fourth of the way thru a ball of white.

It was found as I was winding the second shuttle for The Little Girls' Christmas Barrettes. Thank goodness *this time* it wasn't in the middle of a project.

I prefer 6 cord thread, and in solids I guess this is the best I can get here, so I will still use it.

I continue to "Tat On" dispite the disappointment.

Call or email Barb at Handy Hands, she will gladly replace it! She replaced several for me.

Well I guess I count myself lucky that we have all the choices we do as I used to CRAVE colours as a kid. Also a ball of Coats thread was roughly £2.50 from what I can remember some forty or more years ago and it hasn't really gone up much (if at all) since then. Ah, but maybe the balls have shrunk a tad!!!

So sorry your thread has turned out like this. I've used several #20 colors that I purchased in Spokane at Suttlebirds and have not had any problems. I like tatting with it and is 2nd only to HDT for me. May this be the last ball of troublesome Lizbeth for you. Karen

Thank you for posting that. I felt like such a whiner about it that I've stopped. I decided to use it for crochet or embroidery instead. It won't matter then if there are slubs or knots. People say to complain and you'll get a free replacement. Well...I don't want a replacement for poor quality thread and the majority of mine has had a defect. I understand it happens now and then but this is more than that. I love the colors but I won't recommend it for tatting. It's fine for crochet as you can work around the defects but you can't work around a knot in the middle of a tatted ring without cutting and doing it over.

I had the same problem when I purchased the cones for both sizes 20 and 40. I had informed Barb and she refunded for BOTH the sizes (even though 40 was not that bad). HH has the best customer service so far.
